Tunisian authorities have warned of a possible car bombing in the capital Tunis, banning traffic in parts of the city after receiving intelligence reports about potential attacks.

Interior Ministry source said a potential assault involving car bombs and attackers with bomb-belts had meant to target strategic points in the capital, without giving further details.

Nigerian President says 'military gaining ground' against Boko Haram

Nigeria's President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday said great strides had been made in the fight against Boko Haram, rounding on critics lamenting a lack of progress against the insurgents.

"I think if you have been listening hard enough or if you have been to the northeast (of Nigeria), the military is really gaining ground," the 72-year-old former military ruler said on a visit to Ghana.

Egypt minister arrested after stepping aside

Egypt's agriculture minister, Salah Helal, was arrested in Cairo on Monday after being told to step aside in connection with an investigation into corruption at his ministry, judicial and media sources said.

Salah Helal "resigned on the orders of the president", a statement from the prime minister's office said

Buhari to prune down Nigeria’s foreign missions

President Muhammadu Buhari has ordered a review of Nigeria's foreign missions with an aim of pruning down the number and improving the quality of services rendered.

To this end, a presidential Committee would soon be formed do carry out a holistic exercise on the foreign missions.

A court in the UK has sentenced a Nigerian

fugitive, Abdul Kekere-Ekun, to life imprisonment for the murder of 28yr old Marcus Hall in 2001

EFCC said that the 39yr old who initially pleaded guilty 2d charge of murder b4 the Luton Crown Court later attempted to escape justice by fleeing to Nigeria

He said that the convict was arrested by EFCC for fraud & was later extradited 2d UK when it was discoverd that he was wanted for murder in UK

Iraqi Defence Minister Khaled al-Obeidi’s convoy came under sniper fire but he was

unharmed, a ministry spokesman said

Joint operations spokesman Brigadier Gen. Yahya Rasool said the attack took place in the western outskirts of the town of Beiji, 190km north of Baghdad

Missing Medevac plane may have collided with larger Boeing

A medical evacuation plane flying from Burkina Faso to Senegal may have collided with a much larger Boeing plane shortly before vanishing from radar screens.

Senegal's aviation authority said about an hour before vanishing, the Medevac plane crossed paths with a Boeing B737 800

Former Chadian dictator Habre forcibly brought to court

Former Chadian dictator Hissene Habre was forcibly brought to court on Monday at the resumption of his trial for crimes against humanity in Senegal.
