Insurgency: JIBWIS Urges Continuous Prayers For Peace
By NAN
—
The Jama'tu Izalatul Bidi'a Waikamatus Sunna (JIBWIS) in Kano on Sunday called for continuous prayers for peace, unity and development in the country.
The National Leader of JIBWIS, Sheikh Bala Lau, made the call when he led members of the group to commiserate with government and people of the state over the recent bomb blast in Kano metropolis.
Lau told Gov. Abdullahi Ganduje that the movement would commit itself to prayers to ensure that Nigerian leaders at all levels succeeded in delivering good governance to the people and ensuring peace.
According to him, prayers are necessary in order to ensure peace, unity and development in the country.
The cleric added that the aid group of the movement, numbering about one million were working round the clock in different first aid programmes like supporting orphanages and ensuring peace and security throughout the country.
In his remarks, Ganduje decried how insurgency dented the image of Islam but expressed delight over massive public enlightenment by Islamic scholars on the position of the religion toward the value of life.
The governor then urged the clerics, judges and other stakeholders to rise up and fight the issue of raping minors and order vices in the society as being experienced today. (NAN)
