Tunisian authorities have warned of a possible car bombing in the capital Tunis, banning traffic in parts of the city after receiving intelligence reports about potential attacks.

Interior Ministry source said a potential assault involving car bombs and attackers with bomb-belts had meant to target strategic points in the capital, without giving further details.

Nigeria's President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday said great strides had been made in the fight against Boko Haram, rounding on critics lamenting a lack of progress against the insurgents.

"I think if you have been listening hard enough or if you have been to the northeast (of Nigeria), the military is really gaining ground," the 72-year-old former military ruler said on a visit to Ghana.

Egypt's agriculture minister, Salah Helal, was arrested in Cairo on Monday after being told to step aside in connection with an investigation into corruption at his ministry, judicial and media sources said.

President Muhammadu Buhari has ordered a review of Nigeria's foreign missions with an aim of pruning down the number and improving the quality of services rendered.

To this end, a presidential Committee would soon be formed do carry out a holistic exercise on the foreign missions.

"The minister is well & safe," Rasool told Reuters news agency. He said a guard had been lightly injured in the attack

A medical evacuation plane flying from Burkina Faso to Senegal may have collided with a much larger Boeing plane shortly before vanishing from radar screens.

Senegal's aviation authority said about an hour before vanishing, the Medevac plane crossed paths with a Boeing B737 800

Former Chadian dictator Hissene Habre was forcibly brought to court on Monday at the resumption of his trial for crimes against humanity in Senegal.

Habre was restrained by masked security officers in the courtroom in Senegal's capital city of Dakar, having refused to attend.
