Senator representing Kaduna Central Senatorial District, Shehu Sani,
yesterday said he would not appear before the All Progressives Congress
(APC) disciplinary committee that invited him to defend allegation that
he engaged in anti-party activities.
Former director-general of the defunct Shehu Sani Campaign Organisation, Alhaji Rabiu Khalid, at a press conference on behalf of the senator, said the APC in Kaduna state had lost its footing since it did not have any recognizable leadership.
Alhaji Khalid claimed that only a few persons “acting the script of the state government” “came out once in a while to carry out directives from the government house”.
He said the Kaduna APC had lost its key officials who had taken appointments from the state government.
"Eleven officials, including the chairman and secretary of the party have left the party to take appointments with the state government. Since then, we have not been communicated on whether they have been replaced, only for us to see a letter signed by a strange name, saying he is the deputy chairman of the party.
"We do not recognize this group of elusive people who claim they are inviting the senator to a non- existent forum. Even the address on the letter head of the letter was carrying an address that is different from that of the party secretariat we are all familiar with in the state,” he added.
Senator Sani and Kaduna state governor Nasir El-Rufai parted ways politically since the inauguration of the current administration as both stakeholders have been striving to control the party.
