Leaders of Oro Nation consulted with the then Governor Godswill Akpabio CON on 26 occasions while he promised Oro leaders on FOUR (4) occasions that come rain, come sun, he would hand over power in Akwa Ibom State to an Oro indigene. All of a sudden, Akpabio pulled a trajectory of TARGETED ZONING, settling instead on Udom Emmanuel (another Ibibio from Onna that had earlier produced Governor U J Esuene and Governor Clement Isong), using Senatorial District rather than Ethnic Group (IBIBIO - ANNANG - ORO) as the basis for Zoning. He deceived Oro people and Akwa Ibom people by adopting Targeted Zoning to produce Udom. Akwa Ibom people rejected Akpabio's imposition. The rest is now history. We had long since gone past Zoning.
FREE, FAIR AND CREDIBLE GOVERNORSHIP ELECTION IN AKWA IBOM STATE IS THE MENU AND THE ISSUE RIGHT NOW.
Nobody should drag Akwa Ibom back to the mundane argument of Zoning which Governor Akpabio had long truncated to serve the enlighted self-interest of the Akpabio Clan - the Akpabio Dynasty - overwhelmingly rejected by Akwa Ibom people.
The time for the emancipation has come.
