January 2016 Governorship election
APC: 86,852
PDP: 134,99
REG. VOTERS : 654,493
ACCR VOTERS: 242,114
VALID VOTES: 225, 520

REJECTED VOTES: over 53,000
----------------------------------------------------

A conundrum: Difference between the winner and the runners up is 48,146 votes while the total collated cancelled votes is over 53,000. :

APC boosted its electoral strength from just a little above 5,000 votes some 7 months ago to 86,000 votes, whereas PDP could not muster half of the votes it got during the presidential election. This is instructive.

For the first time we have some semblance of credible election in Bayelsa State since its creation in 1995, and kudos to Mahmoud Yakubu's INEC and by extension PMB, who ensured a free level field without the use of security agents to manipulate the election...
Recall Ekiti, Osun elections under former President Jonathan in which we had excessive interference by security agents. Not a single political actor was arrested on the side of PDP for the purposes of giving APC some advantage.

The results above indicated that PDP had been writing results and damning every body to go to court since 1999. Perhaps if there had been no violence allegedly unleashed by the incumbent, the money deployed all over the place by the incumbent and the manipulation of the difficult terrain, the results might have somewhat different.

Well, it's all over. The winner has won as declared by INEC and should be congratulated. And the looser is entitled to approach the tribunal if he feels strongly that something can be proved to turn the results in his favour.

Let Nigeria move, let democracy thrive, let the anti corruption momentum be intensified.
