You can't interfere in our business, makama tells House of Reps.
... As court restrains committee
The Kogi State House of Assembly under the leadership of Rt. Hon. Umar Ahmed Imam as Speaker, has secured a court injunction seeking to restrain the fact finding committee raised by the National Assembly to interfere with the business of the House with respect to the impeachment of the former speaker - Rt Hon Momoh Jimoh Lawal.
The fact finding committee expected in Lokoja tomorrow, may meet a brick wall in its assignment following the injunction as the committee is interfering in a matter outside its jurisdiction.
This was made known by Hon Friday Makama, Majority Leader of the House and the leader of the integrity group who addressed the press outside the court premises in Lokoja after securing the injunction today, 24th February, 2016 .
He said "Under no circumstances will the so called committee be allowed to interfere in the affairs of Kogi State Assembly. They should stay in Abuja and face their business while we face ours here. We have a right to choose our leader and we have done so by electing Rt Hon Alfa Imam as our speaker" Hon Makama added.
It will be recalled that a 10 man fact finding committee headed by the deputy whip- Hon Pally Iriase was set up yesterday by the house to resolve the kogi assembly crisis and report back within a week.
