BREAKING: Plot By Akwa Ibom Government To Blackmail DSS, Umana Umana Uncovered

A plot by the Akwa Ibom State Commissioner for Information Mr. Aniekan Umanah to blackmail the Department of State Services (DSS) and the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Akwa Ibom State, Mr. Umana Okon Umana, has been uncovered. At a meeting in Uyo on Friday September 18, 2015, Mr. Aniekan Umanah and members of the media team of governor Udom Emmanuel took a decision to divert the attention of the DSS and the public from the ongoing investigation into the incriminating items allegedly recovered by the DSS from the presidential lodge of the Akwa Ibom State Governor's Lodge.

A credible source who attended the nocturnal meeting revealed that Mr. Udom Emmanuel had given matching orders to the State Commissioner for Information and members of his media team to stir up a propaganda that the DSS was heavily paid by the APC governorship candidate, Umana Umana, to "invade" the guest house of the Akwa Ibom Governor's Lodge.

"We have been directed to blackmail the DSS and Umana Umana because the government feels that all the attacks it has sponsored against President Buhari and the DSS over the Governor's Lodge issue has failed to achieve its goal. We therefore agreed that there should be a change of approach by blackmailing Umana Umana with a story that he paid and sponsored the DSS to enter the Governor's Lodge. The Commissioner for Information has already circulated a story for publication in this regard". The source who pleaded anonymity said.

Below is the fake story circulated by Mr. Aniekan Umanah to selected journalists and members of their media team for publication:

"Please let the team publish this story this weekend. I want it to flood the local media. "DSS is in my pocket" Umana Umana Boasts. "I got them to invade Akwa Ibom Guest House". APC governorship candidate in last April 11 election has boasted that the Department of State Services is in "pocket". Umana sounding voluble and utterly expansive , was heard telling a top operative of his campaign organization that he has bought the entire leadership of the agency and compromised their capacity to be independent" they do my biddings and I have them in my pocket . You don't spend the kind of money I have spent and not demand loyalty. I was the one that asked them to invade Akwa Ibom Governor's Lodge, and told them to talk about finding those caches of arms and dollars. Of course I knew I was lying because none of those things were found. I just wanted to embarrass the government." It will be recalled that the DSS has been hounding and harrassing the PDP led government in Akwa Ibom state, culminating in the illegal invasion of the Governor's Lodge penultimate week".

Responding, a close associate of Umana Umana dismissed the plot as another desperate attempt by Udom Emmanuel and his media team to smear the image of the DSS and the APC governorship candidate. "We are aware of it and we urge members of the public to ignore the cheap blackmail by those who rigged themselves into office and are terribly sacred of the looming verdict of the Election Tribunal". The source stated.

Attempts to get the reaction of the Commissioner for Information was unsuccessful as he neither answered nor returned phone calls when contacted.
