Few days after he hit the airwaves revealing the chilling account of how Governor Ayodele Fayose's aides plotted to implicate innocent people over the gruesome murder of his boss, Omolafe Aderiye, Gbolahan Okeowo, Omolafe's personal assistant, is facing another threat again, this time the threat to snuff life out of him.
Government House sources told The Monitors that the revelations by Gbolahan rattled Fayose so much so that the governor is now determined to halt Gbolahan from further damage that will strengthen the police in unraveling the killers of the drivers' union leader.
Gbolahan had told the stunned Ekiti people of how Commissioner of Justice and Attorney General, Ajayi Owoseni; and media aide, Lere Olayinka, tutored him to change his witness statement from his original statement to another one implicating Rotimi Olanbiwonu (Metilo), Deji Adesokan (Jarule), Niyi Adedipe (Apase) and Sola Adenijo (Solar) as Aderiye's killers.
He insisted in his statement that he was forced to implicate innocent people, saying his conscience was pricking him to say the truth. He also claimed to have the voices of Fayose's men on tape during tutoring session to implicate innocent men.
Apparently rattled by these disclosures, Fayose is not comfortable with Gbolahan seizing the field to put him in trouble.
Competent sources in the Government House said several thugs have been dispatched to Ado-Ekiti and Akure for a frantic manhunt for Gbolahan to remove his tongue and put him out of circulation by death.
The same sources also said that Fayose has lost faith and confidence in the security men working with him in the Government House.
His fear is further compounded by the leakage of the secretly planned protest against Dr Kayode Fayemi's confirmation by the Senate.
In a complex game of confusion to score cheap popular political point and at the same time ruin Fayemi's chance of becoming a minister, Fayose had announced to the world that he had directed the three PDP senators to support Fayemi's confirmation even though he did not talk to any of the senators who ordinarily would not protest against Fayemi's confirmation for their personal reasons.
Even at that, Fayose went to town selling the dummy of helping Fayemi's cause even though he had mandated seven men to plan a protest against Fayemi during screening in Abuja. The men met in Afao-Ekiti on Saturday, four days to Tuesday confirmation session at the Senate.
According to the plan, Fayose's supporters were to leave Ado-Ekiti at 2am that Tuesday to stage a protest against Fayemi in Abuja.
But just moments after Afao meeting, details of the plan were leaked to the opposition, who hit the media to leak Fayose's evil plan.
This rattled Fayose that he banned the seven men from coming to the Government House. Their offence was that they leaked the plan to the opposition.
What further infuriated Fayose was that a crack security agent was at the head of the plan and he actually coordinated the Afao meeting.
In anger, Fayose has banned the seven men from the Government House.
The list of those to join those banned from the Government House is growing with a new thinking that the hunting for Gbolahan Okeowo must be conducted under strict secrecy as the governor is afraid of disloyal men working with him in the Government House.
Sources said the governor has sent several security agents packing from the Government House, asking them to report for work but sleep outside the Government House.
So far, he has brought back his thugs who are armed with Gbolahan's photographs and they have since hit Ado and Akure looking for Fayose's albatross in the investigation on Omolafe's murder case.
Fayose's fear is also compounded by evidence suggesting that the death of Tope Tofio and Omo Elere Meta was planned to block the track of investigation into Aderiye's murder. The two notorious criminals were noted for working for the governor and were alleged to be poisoned in the Government House after they allegedly helped to kill Aderiye, thus necessitating Fayose's men's frantic plan to divert attention from the real culprits in the murder by implicating innocent men.
Their death, reports said, was contrived to permanently incapacitate the police in their investigation. Fayose is reportedly suspicious of all security agents in the Government House as he believes that they are the ones leaking sensitive information to the opposition.
