Faleke, Achuba, PDP Chieftains Storm Tribunal Venue
As tribunal sitting resumes today in Abuja on the Kogi State Governorship Election Petition, several political stakeholders from the state stormed the Jabi Federal High Court, Abuja venue to witness the most important petition tribunal in the history of the state.
The running mate to late Prince Abubakar Audu in the November 21, 2015 governorship election, Honourable James Abiodun Faleke, newly sworn-in Kogi State Deputy Governor, Chief Simon Achuba, Personal Assistant to former Governor Idris Wada, Sule Unekwuojo, Alhaji Haliru Alih Abdul, Hon. Duro Meseko and a host of other politicians from Kogi state stormed the tribunal with numerous supporters.
Reporting live for Kogi Patriots from the tribunal venue, Hon. Oladele Nihi (Peace Ambassador), noted that as early as 8:26am the court room was already filled to capacity. "People inside are not up to 10% of the people outside as early as 8.26am", he said.
The Judges came in few minutes after 10am and proceedings commenced shortly after.
Chief Wole Olanipekun, SAN, on behalf of all the lawyers appealed to the tribunal to seek for a more spacious room for the tribunal sitting considering the numerous number of SANs and lawyers appearing and magnitude of political heavy weights and their supporters.
After deliberations on the numbers of motions and counter motions and the need to reply all, the lawyers unanimously agreed to begin pre-hearing 8th of March. The Tribunal granted the requested for pre-hearing to begin 8th March.
Chris Uche, SAN, while responding to request for seven days to enable counsels to Yahaya Bello respond to motions, alluded that Bello's camp is running away from fight by postponing the evil day, "even if they take seven weeks, they won't have an answer", he added.
