MAGNUS ABE IS DEAD: that inscription, and the ever widening gap between politics and humanity.
A few days ago, I had a post where I rated politics above God. Not many believed me, but hard truths are rarely swallowed by people. No surprises.
We are doing unusual things for politics now. Karl saw religion as the opium. The new religion is politics. It intoxicates, and makes a mockery of whatever grip God and the gods held over humans and the way we think
In Ogoni, it is taking a foothold. A pathetically sinister hold.
We existed long before APC and PDP. Have we all agreed to go into extinction before them?
Let's do politics, talk politics, and realise that we are still brothers. Do we have to bury someone who's still alive because we don't agree politically? Why should you carry caskets, tag them to someone, your own brother just because of politics? Should we be so divided by these weak and unstable structures (APC and PDP) to the extent that we want to destroy the only structure that holds us together (Ogoni)?
Let us disagree, but still have that sense of humanity.
Others are counting their blessings; how long do we have to keep counting our losses?
We need more trees to be a forest. Ogonis, be wise.
