Niger State Governor Proceeds On Medical Vacation
Niger State Governor, Abubakar Sani Bello, has proceeded on a medical leave to the United Kingdom.
The Governor, who left on Sunday to keep a date with his doctors in London, had earlier in the week informed the State Executive Council of his intention to proceed on medical vacation.
In a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Jibrin Ndace, Governor Bello is also expected to meet with some investors in the United Kingdom in continuation of his drive to woo investors to Niger State.
"Governor Sani Bello will meet with some investors while in the United Kingdom, to consolidate on discussions on agriculture, solid minerals, water resources, education and infrastructure," the statement read.
The Deputy Governor of Niger State, Mr Ahmed Ketso, would be in charge of the state's administration while Governor Bello is away.
The statement then appealed to the state residents to pray for a successful trip for the Governor, and also called for the support of all to the acting Governor.
Earlier before he left, Governor Bello had flagged off the Immunisation Plus Days (IPDs) and commissioned six of the proposed 16 Fire Fighting engines to boost the activities of the Fire Service Department, in fulfilment of his electioneering campaign.
He also paid an unscheduled visit to some rural electrification schemes, including Beji and surrounding communities, Gusase, Popoi, and Sabongida. He also visited a state owned newspaper company, Newsline Newspapers.
The Governor had meetings and consultations with many stakeholders in the state; hosted the Niger State chapter of the Motor Dealers Association of Nigeria, and the leadership of Miyetti Allah Kaothul Hore (a Fulani socio-cultural association), to find lasting solution to the cattle rustling challenges in some local government areas of the state.
Governor Bello also received the Chairman of the Governing Board as well as the Provost of the Niger State College of Education, Minna, Professor Mohammed Daniyan and Professor Abdulrasheed Haruna, in company of a German educationist partnering with the state on vocational education for the empowerment of women and youth in the state
